Changes to suppliers' operations that reduce energy costs and Greenhouse Gas Emissions, without an effect on production, have been achieved at the Group's textile mills via a Kering Clean by Design programme. Clean by Design was initially launched by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) who, in collaboration with Kering, enhanced the programme's methodology and adapted to Kering's luxury activities.

Across the Group's brands, each textile mill is audited and given specific 'best practices' to improve the efficiency of their operaitons, be it weaving, dyeing, finishing or spinning.

An initial pilot phase of the Kering Clean by Design programme was completed in November 2016, by 25 of the Group's key textile mills. Between them, they have implemented over 150 water and energy efficiency actions, and reduced their Greenhouse Gas emissions, with an average return on investment of 2.5 years.
