Alexander McQueen are currently seeking a confident and commercially minded IP/Commercial Lawyer to join the Alexander McQueen legal team based in our central London HQ.
This is an exciting opportunity to undertake a varied IP/commercial role in a small in-house legal department.
You will provide legal advice to a variety of teams across the business and will support on a global scale. Working in collaboration with the Kering legal teams & external advisers in other jurisdictions, on intellectual property and commercial matters.
How you will contribute?
Advising the business on the creation, protection, and exploitation of intellectual property.
Supporting the business with legal advice on communication projects such as fashion shows, photo shoots, sponsorship and events.
Advising the design, merchandising and other teams in relation to intellectual property matters such as clearance searches and registrations.
Portfolio management (in conjunction with external advisors) including filings, prosecution and opposition/cancellation/invalidity proceedings.
Drafting and negotiating a variety of intellectual property and related agreements including: licences, sponsorship agreements, production agreements, music licences etc.
Managing brand protection and anti-counterfeiting programmes.
Providing advice and conducting (in conjunction with outside counsel) intellectual property disputes and litigation.
Working as part the legal team to provide appropriate legal support to all teams within the business as required including in relation to general commercial agreements and innovation projects.
Developing precedent agreements and IP policies to support the business.
Who you are?
English qualified lawyer with 5-8 years PQE and an excellent understanding of IP and general commercial law, with experience working in an intellectual property/commercial team.
Experience of data protection and technology contracts desirable, but not essential.
Excellent private practice training with experience of working in an in-house legal team desirable.
Experience working at a European/International level.
Strong work ethic and willing to go the extra mile.
Team player, with ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively.
Ability to work within a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Excellent drafting skills and strong attention to detail.
Confident, approachable & professional, with the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of seniority.
French/Italian highly desirable, but not essential.
Due to the sensitivity of material held by the team, confidentiality is an absolute requirement for the role.
