ALEXANDER MCQUEEN Licensing Manager

Your Opportunity:

Alexander McQueen is in search of a Licensing Manager to join their Merchandising team based in London.

You will be responsible for driving the licensing business, ensuring an effective balance of commercial projects that respects the house values and creative direction.

How you will contribute:

Product:

  • Responsible for driving the product strategy for eyewear (Alexander McQueen & McQ), fragrances and rugs (Alexander McQueen).
  • Working with the in-house creative design team and licensee design team for the conception and development of collections
  • Attend creative and commercial briefs, participating in product discussions together with senior management – including Merchandising Director, CEO and Creative Director
  • Responsible for developing the collection structure in collaboration with the licensee
  • Follow through the development of the product through to launch including approvals
  • Undertake relevant market and competitor research

Sales & Distribution:

  • Working closely with the licensee to develop global and regional distribution plans for each category
  • Ensure that we are selecting the right doors appropriate to the house and product
  • Management of all showroom sales activities including the development of training packs, lead training, pricing, setting up the collection and sales analysis
  • Working closely with the Retail team on the global buy to ensure the right assortment is carried in store, preparing training materials for retail teams
  • Implement permanent and seasonal activities to drive sales and sell through, working closely with in-house VM team to ensure maximum exposure of the category in store (seasonal VM guidelines, VM concepts, display tools)
  • Work closely with the Sales & Demand Planning team to ensure the appropriate flow of product to the retail network
  • Work closely with the Business Development team to implement budgeted and open to buy systems and processes for each license categories within the retail network

Marketing:

  • Develop and define the marketing strategy and plans for each category working with the in house marketing and communication team, and Licensee teams
  • Provide direction on strategic company objectives for incorporation into the Marketing and PR plans
  • Responsible for managing partnerships with key retailers - including exclusivities and special launches
  • Project management of all marketing activities internally and externally

Other:

  • Sales & Pricing reporting
  • Collection codification
  • Maintain catalogues and pricing files
  • Work alongside the Legal team to draft and negotiate contracts with Licensees when appropriate (including new license agreements, renewals, and amendments)
  • Monitor the licensee’s adherence to contracts
  • Presenting to Senior Management

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Excellent organisational skills with an ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively
  • Strong communication skills – interacting both internally, within the Group and externally on behalf of the house
  • Highly analytical with commercial sensitivity
  • Proven experience working in a creative environment
  • High level of product sensitivity with experience in luxury goods
  • Proven and extensive negotiation skills
  • Degree in a related discipline
  • Second European language preferable (but not required)
