Role Mission
The Director of Retail and Special Projects Marketing is responsible for leading, developing and managing regional 360 marketing strategies which focus upon key store openings and ongoing retail support, pop-ups, brand activations, and special projects. To successfully implement high-impact marketing and events initiatives, the role requires high collaboration across the departments and functions of Public Relations, Events, Media, Client, Merchandising, Retail Performance and Operations, Business Strategy, and Wholesale to successfully execute high-impact marketing initiatives. The retail marketing strategy will be adapted locally, following frameworks and guidelines provided from headquarters and will span all of Gucci’s retail stores and Gucci pop-ups in US and Canada. This role reports to the Vice President of Integrated Marketing.
Key Accountabilities
- Own the strategy and drive results on key store openings and ongoing retail support across North America, considering the full year’s plan and brand priorities;
- Create, ideate, and build 360-degree retail marketing plans, delivering strong and compelling positioning in important cities that support brand image and traffic;
- Tailor strategic go-to-market plans for unique retail concepts that require exceptional creativity, making a statement in the communities they are a part of;
- Build strong relationships across local and corporate departments, meeting regularly to drive coordinated efforts and ensure alignment on retail marketing priorities;
- Effectively coalesce cross-department teams and to ensure that they are working in unison and according to the prescribed strategies;
- Work with VP, Integrated Marketing to manage yearly budgets.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree;
- A minimum of 6 years in with a strong operational background in either brand marketing and/or retail marketing;
- Inherent team spirit and the ability to forge meaningful relationships across multiple departments and functions;
- Strong presentation skills – written and verbal – to share and communicate strategy;
- Ability to combine analytical analysis with creative and nuanced marketing strategies;
- Experience in complex budget preparation and analysis;
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment, which demands both quick thinking and strong attention to detail;
- Strong project management skills;
- Highly proficient in MS Office (Powerpoint, excel and word);
- Ability to adopt and learn new systems, analytics tools.
