Your Opportunity

Gucci has launched a series of initiatives to foster cultural diversity and awareness. We are currently running a global search for Junior Kidswear designer, to be based in our Creative team offices in Rome, Italy. You will work closely with our Kidswear Designer, helping our team to create and bring to life the Creative Director’s vision. As Junior Designer, you will support the team of experienced Designers in every aspect of the creative process: from research to design, product development and different ad hoc duties.

How you will contribute (key accountabilities)

  • Assist in any part of the design process required by the Designer
  • Produce clear and detailed technical sketches
  • Communicate technical and creative ideas to the Design team
  • Research all product styles
  • Create mood and trend boards
  • Research of general trends, inspiration as well as details and materials
  • Development of sketches from inspirational through to technical drawings
  • Create mock-ups of products
  • Provide constant feedback to the product development team
  • Source materials and suppliers; manage fabric and material archive
  • Perform ad hoc and administrative tasks as required by the Designer
  • Prepare specs and manage deliverables meeting agreed deadlines

Things That Should Be in Your Background

  • Previous experience (2-3 years) designing ready to wear, illustration and print
  • Excellent drawing skills
  • Sound research skills
  • Sample making experience
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to adapt to variable workload and meet concrete deadlines
  • Ability to understand creative direction and concept
  • Resilience and ability to adapt to constant changes
  • Understanding of the fashion industry or previous luxury goods experience
  • Ability to use Photoshop, In Design and Illustrator
  • Fluency in English

  • International experience and exposure to different cultures will be highly valued
  • Aesthetics aligned with Gucci sensibilities (especially in regards to the kidswear category)
  • Experience in dealing with sensitive information
  • Strong understanding of the brand ethos and ethical values
  • Ability to understand creative direction and concept
  • Fluency in other languages will be highly valued
