ROLE OBJECTIVE The GMM is responsible for driving Global Merchandising efforts to achieve sales, sell thru, and inventory targets for retail locations within the region. This individual is responsible for empowering the team to set and reach department goals while ensuring appropriate product offering and key brand messages across the network.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Drive an overall vision of the product lifecycle by leading the team to react to sales trends, market impacts, and inventory
  • Oversee buying activities based on analysis and allocation (selection, quantities, assortment by store) as well as ensuring successful management of OTB seasonally
  • Ensure assortment aligns with local strategies, financial plans, and global initiatives
  • Determine category mix by store to ensure most efficient use of sales per square foot and successful client engagement with Retail, Store Planning, and Visual
  • Lead inventory planning for best performance of carry over products
  • Deliver analysis and feedbacks on sales; develop and drive business strategies to exceed targets, achieve sell thrus, and manage inventory targets
  • Develop product strategies and analyze competition to increase brand profitability
  • Devise and lead team to collaborate with Training on products, collections and key messages for each season
  • Collaborate with retail team to ensure understanding of local market needs by supporting in-store activities, contributing to customer loyalty, and maximizing the retail calendar
  • Ensure strong collaboration with cross-functional partners on business opportunities (i.e. Wholesale, Retail, Visual Merchandising, Store Planning, Finance, Public Relations, etc.)
  • Prepare and present in budget, forecast, and monthly business reviews with headquarters
  • Create and manage talent development plans to ensure team growth and development
  • Ensure strong department presence in stores

Skills and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion, Business, or related discipline
  • A minimum of 15+ years of buying experience gained within a comparable fashion and/or luxury environment
  • Experience in managing a merchandising team and track record in building an incremental business
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with local retail teams across the market
  • Ability to understand current market trends and buying psychology
  • Ability to develop, lead and inspire a group of people across various functions
  • Successfully work cross-functionally within the organization
  • Possess elevated taste level to ensure appropriate brand representation
  • Flexibility to travel regularly and with short notice based on business needs
