Role Mission

The Inventory Control Manager will be responsible for leading and overseeing inventory control activities for all Gucci stores in North America. The position will be based on the Finance team in our New York offices and will manage the inventory control team in order to achieve key business objectives, inclusive of ensuring effective controls are in place, analyzing inventory discrepancies and resolving inventory control issues. The Inventory Control Manager will work cross-functionally with Store Directors, Store Operations Managers, Loss Prevention and other regional teams.

Key Accountabilities

  • Guarantee effective controls on stock movement are in place;
  • Partner with the Store and Market Directors to solve queries related to stock discrepancies, taking the lead to create stock management best practices;
  • Oversee stock adjustments to ensure corporate asset appropriation is duly monitored and approved;
  • Maintain ownership of store inventories and follow up on all post inventory adjustments;
  • Coordinate, monitor, review and approve results of random stock taking;
  • Create a robust system to monitor stock in transit from all sources (manufacturing, intra-regional transfers) and timely reporting on exceptions;
  • Review and analyze discrepancies in transfers and negative stock on hand;
  • Support Loss Prevention department with investigations regarding stock movements;
  • Act as a partner in innovation projects aimed to streamline stock management in stores;
  • Prepare a monthly retail closing package to be used to support monthly financial closing;
  • Ensure adequate inventory of all products in accordance with inventory cycles;
  • Conduct daily inventory analysis to solve any problems;
  • Develop and implement inventory control procedures;
  • Manage the biannual inventory process for all Gucci stores in North America;
  • Conduct month-end reconciliations and closings;
  • Responsible for gross margin calculations for month end closing as well as projection for forecasts and budgets;
  • Determine the correct markdown reserve based on ageing of stock;
  • Manage price management, including the coordination of all price changes the creation and release of price events.

Key Requirements

  • 7 – 8 years’ experience;
  • Bachelor’s Degree required;
  • SAP HANA and SAP FMS knowledge and advanced excel skills required;
  • Inventory control and retail experience preferred;
  • Knowledge of MicroStrategy a plus;
  • Able to manage varied workload;
  • Proven ability to work efficiently and meet strict deadlines;
  • Pro-actively takes initiative to improve existing processes;
  • Excellent work ethic;
  • Ability to think clearly and calmly when faced with issues or problems and demonstrates an understanding to find solutions;
  • Logistics and finance experience are key;
  • Flexibility with work hours required as late nights & weekends are necessary during month end, physical inventory and other peaks times as they arise.
