Role Mission

The Sales Manager for Men’s Footwear is responsible for managing and growing all wholesale department store accounts for the men’s footwear product categories, effectively building collaborative relationships with clients, and communicating the Gucci strategy.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the men’s footwear business in all department stores;

  • Ability to travel two times per year to Italy to attend markets;

  • Seasonal store visits US, Canada & Bahamas and additional trips as needed;

  • Present collections to accounts while in market, conveying collection intent and key concepts with excitement and high energy;

  • Coordinate market calendar;

  • Partner with accounts/customers to obtain pre-market sales plans;

  • Follow-up on all orders post market in a timely fashion;

  • Partner with Business Planning to ensure effective and accurate planning of product category;

  • Work with Business Planning counterparts on replenishment style opportunities, by door matrix and sales plans;

  • Oversee all order entries in the Gucci system and on-going follow up with customer service to ensure that all order deadlines have been met;

  • Communicate at buyer level of client hierarchy to ensure budgets and strategy of business is aligned;

  • Work closely with the Wholesale and Business Planning department heads on the strategic process of budget preparation based on sell/thru, gross margins, inventory, shipping, and competition;

  • Track and update budget templates to ensure orders are in line with projections and corporate sales targets;

  • Review and analyze weekly delivery by category and client to understand Gucci’s logistics flow position, and escalate information as needed;

  • Review by style selling to pinpoint opportunities and challenges within each category;

  • Monthly review of market shares to benchmark our position / trend to DOS;

  • Understand challenges and opportunities before mapping a strategic growth plan for business;

  • Identify and communicate ongoing trend and market needs to merchandising;

  • Awareness of the competitive environment;

  • Relay all market feedback and order analysis to the Italy merchandising team as well as the regional executive team;

  • Ad hoc analysis, strategies and power point presentations as needed;

  • Maintenance of the POS file;

  • Work with wholesale department head to achieve proper and ideal distribution; 

  • Manage client assortments / sku levels & selection / to make sure the brand integrity is upheld;

  • Oversee strategic client initiatives – summits / trainings / contests / shop renovations, helping to host and organize;

  • Liaise with Gucci visual, store planning, training, and marketing to align our wholesale efforts with respective department timelines and projects;

  • Build collaborative relationships with all internal stakeholders, as well as external clients;

  • Oversee DSA Program – costs / bonuses / competitive package / results;

  • Store visits followed by shared recap with wholesale team and executives on opportunities/challenges in respective market;

  • Build relationships with store employees to better understand specific market needs;

  • Coordinate with accounts’ marketing departments to promote brand image by forwarding current strategies, advertising campaigns, and press releases;

  • Partner with customer service to ensure timely shipments, EDI, and pricing adjustments;

  • Maintain client eCommerce websites, checking for accuracy of product images and descriptions as well as flow of visual merchandising ;

  • Liaise with wholesale marketing team and WW corporate image on all photography and styling to ensure timely delivery of content for client websites;

  • Liaise with DOS on orders, selling, distribution to better understand their strategy and how this could be implemented or used positively in wholesale.

Key Requirements

  • 7- 8 years of relevant experience;

  • Strong excel and retail math skills;

  • Able to speak in public and in front of large groups of people (summit, market, etc.);

  • Domestic and international travel as required;

  • Team player with excellent communication skills;

  • Must be flexible and open minding and able to multitask in a fast-paced ever-changing environment.
