ABOUT SAINT LAURENT Founded in 1961, Yves Saint Laurent was the first couture house to introduce the concept of luxury prêt-à-porter in a 1966 collection called ‘Rive Gauche’, synonymous with youth and freedom. This shift represented a first critical step in the modernization of fashion and revolutionized the socio- cultural landscape. In 1999, the luxury goods division of the Kering Group acquired Yves Saint Laurent and, under the creative direction of Anthony Vaccarello since April 2016, continues to position the house at the summit of the luxury universe. Today, Saint Laurent collections include women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, shoes, handbags, small leather goods, jewelry, scarves, ties and eyewear.

We are currently seeking a Men’s Associate Buyer who will report to the Men’s Senior Buyer as part of our dynamic team in New York, New York.

ROLE

You will develop and execute strategic business-driving initiatives across all departments under Men’s business division (Ready-to-Wear, Shoes, Silks and Sunglasses). You will also maintain in-depth knowledge of the competitive landscape and target customer profile through regular research and competitive analysis.

MISSION

  • Communicate to worldwide merchants on product feedback and market needs including strategic pricing and product placement
  • Oversee the product life cycle including seasonal assortment planning, line development and merchandise selection
  • Manage core inventory, making sure stock is maintained in core items, new items are added to core when appropriate, and all styles being re-ordered are contributing to the business
  • Demonstrate keen understanding of product, design and industry trends in order to aid product decisions and smart risk- taking
  • Analyze sales and define action plans in order to further grow the category
  • Identify market needs and opportunities, and communicate them to the buyer
  • Ensure optimization of stock through internal transfers and communicating product sales targets
  • Consistently monitor business at detailed levels (e.g. by store and by SKU) and implement initiatives to maximize local business opportunities
  • Work closely with other internal departments including: Marketing, E-commerce, Operations, Visual Merchandising, Public Relations and Customer Service
  • Compose weekly, seasonal and ad hoc business recaps that show analysis of financial performance
  • Oversee stock optimization to grow sell-thru by store through consolidation
  • Collaborate with the buyer in order to drive and grow the accessories business that currently accounts for more than 50% of the global US sales
  • Host in-store trainings on product inspiration and buying strategies
  • International travel to Paris as well as local travel to US stores

PROFILE

  • Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum years of experience: 3 years in fashion, business or relevant field
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities with strong time management and organizational skills
  • Passion for the industry, strong taste level and appreciation of luxury product
  • Commercial awareness and strong business acumen, understanding of buying psychology
  • Familiar with retail math (stock to sales, sell-through, inventory turn etc.)
