We are currently seeking a Skilled Leather Craftsman to join the Leathergoods team at Alexander McQueen. The role will be based in our central London office, directly reporting to our Head of Leathergoods across both Women’s and Men’s and working with the wider team.
The Leather Craftsman will work closely with the Design Team to developer & produce prototypes and samples of design concepts leathers goods using handmade techniques.
How you will contribute?
Working with the design team to bring sketches to life.
Reworking classic designs and creating innovative pieces to inspire the design process and support research for the collection.
Advising the team on material, construction & viability of designs.
Producing and adapting prototypes to show the senior design team and CD, then to use to communicate with the production team in Italy.
General assemble work including preparing leather skins, splitting, cutting, skiving, machine sewing, hand stitching and foil backing.
Who you are?
Seasoned experience working with high end leather.
Pattern cutting experience is necessary whilst experience of a CAD system is desirable.
Proven experience and understanding of handmade techniques to the highest standard.
Excellent communication skills
Italian language skills would be an advantage
Ability to interpret specification sheets.
