We are currently seeking a Payroll Tax Specialist who will report to the Senior Manager, Payroll, Kering Americas based in Wayne, New Jersey.
The Payroll Tax Specialist will assist in all aspects of tax reporting compliance activities, such as the reporting of payroll tax, audit tax records, responding to internal enquiries regarding tax compliance, have a solid understanding of filing federal payroll tax credit programs, including but not limited to Employer Retention Credits, Paid Sick and Family Leave Tax Credits, Cobra premium assistance.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
Audit and Analysis
- Analyze multi-state payroll tax data and ensure that payroll information is reported to federal, state and local agencies as necessary and required
- Verify Dayforce processes, federal, multi-state and multi-jurisdiction withholding tax payments both timely and accurately
- Map and maintain an overview of Dayforce payments vs Kering payments, highlighting any discrepancies and anomalies as they arise and actioning accordingly
- Verify accurate deposits and filing of tax liabilities
- Perform Quarterly and Annual Audit True Ups to ensure accurate payment returns
- Resolve any payroll tax errors and queries in support of the timely processing of the payroll
- Periodically audit employee tax records to ensure proper taxation changes are implemented
- Complete any necessary tax adjustments
- Process Taxable Benefits. i.e Clothing Allowance, Fitness Reimbursement and Other Allowances
- Setup new jurisdictions including distribution of tax remittances according to tax jurisdiction guidelines
- Update account numbers and rates in Dayforce when account number received
- Research, document and monitor payroll tax issues and tax notices with Dayforce ensuring and maintaining timely resolutions
- Process employee and employer payroll tax adjustment W-2C, T-4/RL-1 amendments
- Provide guidance and support to the payroll team with researching and answering Kering Connect tickets related to tax queries
Reporting
- Ensure all amended filings are completed and submitted as required
- Year-end reporting review and reconcile US and Canada quarterly and annual filing: W2, T4, RL-1, EHT & WSIB.
- Download all Quarterly and Annual tax filing reports to the Payroll Shared Drive
- Document and review payroll tax processing procedures
- Perform and build compliance and year end reporting
- Provide bi-weekly updates relating to outstanding tax issues
- Stay abreast of current legislation and regulatory rulings impacting payroll
- Perform any other tasks or duties as appropriate and required
WHO YOU ARE
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance or related field is desired; or equivalent education and/or related work experience
- 8+ years in US and Canadian tax experience required
- Demonstrate a strong understanding and practical knowledge and application of both US and Canada payroll and tax requirements
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) and/or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
- Exceptional level of proficiency in MS Excel, using Excel techniques to analyze large datasets, identify patterns/variances by employing complex functions and formulas to enable efficient data analysis and reporting; Intermediate abilities with MS Outlook and Word.
- Ability to implement rigorous data validation protocols as developed by the department to maintain data accuracy and integrity.
- Well-rounded in communicating with stakeholders all levels internally within the organization and externally with agencies / government bodies
- Consistent and sustained quality in data entry and ability to meet deadlines.
