We are currently seeking a Sustainable Sourcing & Animal Welfare Specialist.
Located in in Paris – permanent position starting October 2021 – Requires 20 to 30% travels
The Sustainable Sourcing & Animal Welfare Specialist is part of the Sustainability Programme Team that is comprised of a group of environmental experts at the Kering corporate who support the Group's brands. S/he/they is an expert on corporate sustainability solutions for sourcing and supply chains of animal-based materials, either in the apparel and accessories sector or other sectors such as the food industry. S/he/they works in collaboration with the Group's brands and covers supply chain from raw material origin with a particular focus on animal-based key raw materials for the Group's brand products (e.g. leather, wool, cashmere,...) S/he/they has a solid knowledge of animal welfare and agricultural systems and understands links between supply chains and environmental management, regenerative agriculture and/or agronomy or other natural sciences. S/he/they enjoys working in teams and building networks and in particular is experienced in establishing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders to ensure the scientific soundness of Kering’s approaches and to support broad uptake of solutions/actions beyond Kering’s own sphere of operations. S/he/they are also experienced in engaging teams internally in order to go from strategic framework and goals to concrete actions and projects on the ground.
How you will contribute
Contribute to the development of the Sustainable Sourcing program that is focused on the sustainable sourcing of key raw materials with the goal of reducing the environmental footprint of Kering and its Brands while creating business opportunities
Act as Subject Matter Expert on Animal Welfare including assistance to the brands, external representation, management of the Kering Animal Welfare standards and related internal tools
Carry out analytical reviews on best practice, standards, initiatives/projects for animal-based raw material production to help keep Kering leading sustainable sourcing
Work closely with the Materials Innovation Lab & Group Operation Sustainability teams in Italy and others across Kering to support awareness and uptake of raw materials that aligns with Kering Sustainability strategy and standards
Help design, implement and communicate smart sourcing solutions for key animal-based materials in collaboration with Brands and support Brands in their priority raw material projects and initiatives
Support the internal and external communication on smart sourcing include participation in key appropriate multi-stakeholder platforms & initiatives and industry organizations,
Manage projects and initiatives with external experts tracking results and budget along with communicating outcome across Kering and help identify new sourcing and improved traceability initiatives
Coordinate internal work groups and manage cross brand initiatives
Who you are
Technical expertise: strong knowledge and understanding of agricultural science and/or animal welfare
Technical expertise: ability to understand the overall vision around corporate sustainability while tracking and managing details of implementing actions,
Strong project design and management skills including developing business plans,
Rigor and strong capability to monitor projects and multi-task on a day to day basis,
Strong ability to work autonomously and to proactively drive projects and deadlines,
Capacity to influence and communicate in a complex international organization,
Cooperative and flexible in teamwork, strong interpersonal skills and adaptability in a multicultural context
Fluent in English, strong working knowledge of French and/or Italian would be greatly appreciated
Excellent oral & written communication skills
At least a Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in natural science, agricultural science or similar.
At least 5 years working experience in sustainability in business and/or supply chain operations and management and/or research/analytics experience
Experience in fashion/apparel/footwear sourcing and supply chains preferred but experience in other sectors such as Food & Beverages also relevant
Experience in managing, internal and external relationships with a range of stakeholders
Experience in complex organizations and/or companies
