Role Mission

The Sommelier at Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura is responsible for the development and management of all aspects of the wine and beverage program.

You will act as a strong partner to the Restaurant Director and Assistant General Manager to support with operational activities and ensure high quality service for each guest.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the restaurant wine, cocktails and beverage program, inclusive of ordering, inventory, organization and cost management;
  • Develop and execute wine, cocktails and beverage training programs for all employees to improve their knowledge of wine tasting and wine service;
  • Support the management team with ensuring a state-of-the-art service delivery;
  • Assist with daily operational duties, inclusive of reporting and opening/closing procedures;
  • Coordinate restaurant front of house actions, being responsible for a smooth and effective collaboration across staff and exceeding guests’ expectations;
  • Lead by example to promote a positive and professional team environment that fosters trust, integrity and superior performance standards;
  • Provide guidance and regular feedback to front of house staff to ensure their development is ongoing and their motivation and sense of engagement is high;
  • Monitor the front of house team’s adherence with company policies and procedures;
  • Greeting and escorting guests with a professional and positive attitude;
  • Manage eventual clients’ complaints exceeding their expectations;
  • Oversee and pro-actively deal with guest requests and complaints;
  • Maintain clean work environment.

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in the hospitality in a sommelier role.
    Previous experience in luxury and fine dining contexts will be prioritized;
  • Proven knowledge of food and beverage pairings;
  • Level I Sommelier certificate required, Level II will be prioritized;
  • Solid understanding of pricing, budgets and cost management;
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken. Additional language command will be prioritized;
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Professional grooming and appearance;
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Client-oriented approach and solutions-oriented attitude;
  • Passion, professionalism and discretion;
  • Proven track of people-management skills;
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs which included, evenings, weekends and holidays;
  • Provide certification of Food Handlers’ License and Serve Safe.
