Role Mission

The Director, Retail Training will lead the training team, across retail channels in Gucci North America. The primary responsibilities include development of 360 training strategy that align with business priorities, implementation and deployment of content; focusing on optimal retention of information and people development. The Director, Retail Training will work cross-functionally with the Client Engagement, Merchandising, Store Operations, Retail, Digital and Human Resources teams to synchronize all training activities. This role will be responsible for developing and sustaining a culture of learning, leveraging innovation and digital technology.

Key Accountabilities                                        

  • Develop and execute the company’s strategic training plan, unique to each business channel: Retail, Concession, Outlet, Watches & Jewelry and Gucci 9;
  • Oversee planning, prioritization and implementation of local and WW training and development initiatives, ensuring that the initiatives are consistent with the business strategy and needs of the organization;
  • Leverage digital tools, new technologies to enhance the learning impact, while ensuring maximum absorption and application of knowledge;
  • Foster a culture of learning by engaging with the teams, delivering impactful trainings, on-boarding and building a learning community;
  • Provide leadership, direction and coaching on training methodology and instructional delivery, to ensure learning effectiveness;
  • Partner with worldwide team and corporate stakeholders to establish and maintain training metrics to evaluate effectiveness of learning outcomes on the achievement of business results;
  • Supervise and coach direct and indirect reports in regards to performance, inclusive of performance reviews and continuous feedback;
  • Ensure consistent delivery and application of training in all stores;
  • Conduct need analysis to identify and define present/future training needs;
  • Communicate training needs to the WW Retail Training team;
  • Work cross-functionally with Retail Operations, Human Resources, Client Engagement and Merchandising to ensure alignment on all training projects, training needs as well as strategies aimed at improving performance;
  • Manage training department budget.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with solid career progression, including at least three years’ experience in retail;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Training and Development or Retail Management preferred;
  • Must possess substantive/demonstrated experience with learning and development curriculum, delivering formalized training presentations and managing a team of trainers;
  • Must posses a leadership background in leading teams and developing leaders;
  • Strong project management experience in successfully managing, delivering and improving high-quality learning programs, including curriculum and materials design;
  • Effective and creative problem-solving skills, strong business acumen;
  • Demonstrated ability to employ sound judgment in complex situations;
  • Must be comfortable working through ambiguity and in a fast-paced dynamic environment;
  • Self-directed in planning own work and work of teams;
  • Excellent interpersonal, public communication and facilitation skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills; strong organizational skills;
  • Working knowledge of group and corporate dynamics and integrity;
  • Ability to work effectively and collaborate with all levels within an organization;
  • Strong, demonstrated proficiency with using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), particularly with designing presentations in PowerPoint and other formats;
  • Must be able to travel at least 25% of time.
