The Accountant is responsible for managing accounts receivable, credit control, invoicing, collections, and financial reporting for the Hong Kong operation. The role ensures accurate financial records, effective credit risk management, timely cash collection, and compliance with internal controls and corporate policies. The position works closely with Commercial and Sales Support teams and Finance stakeholders to support business operations.
How You Will Contribute?
1. Credit Check & Approval
- Perform new customer account setup, including verification of customer background check from international credit portal.
- Maintain and update customer master data, credit limits, and GL mappings in SAP (FD01, FD32).
- Prepare and submit Internal Credit Limit (ICL) applications, including templates and supporting Annex documentation.
- Conduct daily routine credit checks and support ongoing credit risk monitoring.
- Perform annual credit reviews in collaboration with the Commercial team, ensuring updated credit limits and payment terms are approved within group timelines. Perform customer credit risk score check for accounts with long-outstanding balances (e.g. over 120 days) and assess discretionary credit limit eligibility, ensuring appropriate credit controls are in place.
2. Invoicing
- Support billing and invoicing activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with approved commercial terms.
- Prepare and issue semi-annual and annual rebate credit notes, verifying rebate terms in ARA and ensuring accurate calculation and posting in the accounting system.
3. Payment Collection
- Accurately post incoming customer receipts and perform timely cash posting.
- Prepare Notifications of Overdue Accounts (NOA) for Credit insurance non-payment declaration.
- Issue Statements of Account to customers.
- Perform regular follow-ups with customers and commercial teams on outstanding balances, inquiries, and dispute resolution.
- Monitor and update accounts receivable ageing, ensuring overdue balances are highlighted and followed up appropriately.
4. Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare weekly cash-in and collection reports for management review.
- Generate accounts receivable ageing reports for all sales channels (e.g. HKDM, DIAU) to support the Commercial team’s collection and follow-up activities.
- Prepare and distribute accounts-on-hold reports to relevant stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation of credit risk reports, incoming cash flow forecasts, and bad debt provision reports.
- Update Trade Age Appendix in the group consolidation system (HFM).
- Coordinate and arrange audit confirmation requests from customers, including balance verification and obtaining authorized signatures.
5. Master Data & Banking Activities
- Maintain customer master data, including updates to invoice discounts, rebates, and financial terms in accordance with approved commercial agreements.
- Handle banking-related activities, including cheque deposits and supporting documentation.
Who You Are?
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in Accounting, Accounts Receivable, and Credit Control, preferably in a multinational environment.
- Hands-on experience with SAP or other ERP systems is an advantage.
- Familiarity with credit risk management, invoicing, and collection processes.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders and customers.
- Proficiency in English and Cantonese; Mandarin is an advantage.
