Role Mission The Fabric Research & Development Specialist will work closely with the Designers researching and providing fabrics, respecting the guidelines and the input defined by the Creative Director and the aesthetic of the brand.

How you will contribute (key accountabilities)

Fabric research:

  • Based on the Creative Director and Design Director inputs and the aesthetic of the brand, research fabrics, inspiration and textures, visiting suppliers, vintage markets and stores;
  • Guarantee the creations of innovative, sustainable ad-hoc fabrics and textures supported by the suppliers;
  • Visit category’s trade fair to have continuous feedback on latest news and trends, new fabrics;

Support to Designers on the Collection development:

  • Propose fabrics to Designers ensuring coherence with the Collection/Special Project mood, guaranteeing the availability in time to respect the Collection/Special Project timelines;
  • Ensure availability of different varieties of colors based on Creative Director and Merchandising reviews;
  • Exchange constantly with Designers and Product Development with the purpose to be updated on the development of each item, asking feedback on fabrics and resolving quickly eventually issues or proposing new ideas;
  • Timely support the Celebrity and Made to Order Design Team providing fabrics dedicated for their special needs;
  • Guarantee an updated and organized archive of fabrics and their details, including those used for the Collection/Special Projects and the ones discarded;

Cross departments and cross categories interactions:

  • Ensure adequate procurement fabrics guaranteeing continuous exchanges with the Raw Materials Purchasing Dept.;
  • Collects ad documents all the information related to each Collection/Special Project’s fabric (price, codes, technical details, color’s name, develop steps) to share with Merchandising and Legal depts.;
  • Interacts with different Categories to ensure coherence on fabrics and colors for the same Collection/Special Project and propose new ones;
  • Build strong relations with vendors.

Things That Should Be in Your Background

  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience in a factory is a plus
  • Sound knowledge and passion of fabrics and print techniques
  • Good knowledge of the industrial production process
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Good organization skills and high attention to details; ability to manage the activities in a timely manner
  • Fluency in English
