    About us Founded by Spanish-born Cristóbal Balenciaga in 1917 and established in Paris in 1937, the original House of Balenciaga defined modern couture with its many innovations to form and technique. Today it continues to uphold the vision of the House through boundary-pushing collections including women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, accessories, and objets d’art. The brand’s unprecedented interactions with the expanding digital realm, material developments, and today’s social responsibilities keep it at the forefront of modernity. In 2021, Balenciaga’s 50th Couture collection—the House’s first since its founder retired in 1968 – reintroduces a standard of cutting-edge elegance. From October 2015 to July 2025, Demna designed both men’s and women’s collections as the Artistic Director. In July 2025, Pierpaolo Piccioli was appointed Creative Director of Balenciaga.

    Your opportunity
     

    As part of the RTW Collection Merchandising team, you will be participating in the full-round construction process of all Balenciaga’s global RTW collections and special projects. You will oversee the following tasks and missions in this framework.

    How you will contribute
     

    Collection Development and Management:

    • Define the collection strategy by considering brand DNA, market trends and consumer needs.
    • Oversee the collection plan, ensuring a balanced offering across categories, prices, volumes, and margins and follow-up development.
    • Collaborate closely with creative teams to ensure harmony between artistic vision and commercial potential.
       

    Strategic Analysis and Monitoring:

    • Conduct in-depth monitoring of luxury trends, customer behaviors, and competitor performance.
    • Analyze the results of previous collections (sales, sell-through, margins) to identify opportunities and areas for improvement.
    • Provide strategic insights to guide future product and collection development.
       

    Project Management and Coordination:

    • Ensure collaboration between coordination, development, production, retail, and wholesale departments to meet deadlines, quality standards, and overall consistency.
    • Actively participate in key stages, such as showrooms and collection presentations.
    • Ensure that each product meets the expectations of target markets while embodying the brand's DNA.
       

    Leadership and Team Management:

    • Supervise junior members of the merchandising team, guiding them in their missions and developing their skills.
    • Work with management to guide strategic decisions related to collections and commercial priorities.
       

    Performance Optimization:

    • Monitor the performance of collections after launch and recommend adjustments to maximize their impact.
    • Implement tools and processes to improve data analysis and its use in decision-making.
    • Prepare strategic reports, including detailed insights on sales, trends, and opportunities.

    Who you are

    • A technical specialist with solid understanding of the luxury/fashion market and key players
    • An individual with a product sensitivity, strong analytical ability both quantitative and qualitative, proven ability to manage various projects at different development stages, 
    • A person with strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with transversal teams, ability to be flexible and reactive, fluent in English and French, Italian would be a plus. 
    • An individual who is an expert in the Pack Office (Excel, Powerpoint), PLM and InDesign will be a plus.
