We are currently looking for a training manager who will report to President, Kering Eyewear Japan.
The Training Manager is responsible for developing and driving the learning and development strategy for Kering Eyewear Japan. This role plays a critical part in enhancing the knowledge, capabilities, and sales effectiveness of both internal sales teams and external retail partners.
The position will design and deliver training programs covering brand knowledge, product knowledge, optical expertise, customer experience, and sales techniques. The Training Manager will also manage and promote the company's e-learning platforms, ensuring high participation and effective learning outcomes while adapting global training materials to local market needs.
How you will contribute
1. Training Strategy & Deployment
- Develop and execute the annual training plan aligned with business priorities and commercial objectives.
- Identify capability gaps and learning needs across internal sales teams and external retail partners.
- Adapt and localize global training initiatives for the Japanese market.
- Establish training KPIs and monitor training effectiveness through assessment and business performance indicators.
2. Brand & Product Training
- Develop and deliver training programs covering:
- Brand heritage and positioning
- Product collections and launches
- Technical product specifications
- Competitive landscape and market trends
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Kering Eyewear brands and products within Japan.
- Partner closely with Marketing, Sales, and Brand teams to ensure training content remains current and relevant.
3. Optical & Professional Knowledge Training
- Deliver technical training related to:
- Eyewear and lens technologies
- Optical industry knowledge
- Product fitting and customer consultation
- Industry regulations and best practices
- Support field sales teams in enhancing their credibility and advisory capabilities with customers and opticians.
4. Sales Capability Development
- Design and facilitate programs focused on:
- Sales excellence
- Customer engagement
- Consultative selling
- Negotiation skills
- Retail performance improvement
- Conduct field coaching and accompany sales representatives during customer visits when required.
- Provide practical tools and learning resources to improve sales effectiveness.
5. Retail Partner Training
- Deliver training sessions to:
- Optical retailers
- Department stores
- Specialty retailers
- Key account partners
- Build strong relationships with customers through continuous learning and support initiatives.
- Ensure consistent brand representation and product knowledge across all customer touchpoints.
6. E-Learning Management & Promotion
- Act as the local owner of digital learning platforms.
- Drive employee and customer adoption of e-learning solutions.
- Monitor participation, completion rates, and learning effectiveness.
- Coordinate with regional and global Learning & Development teams regarding system enhancements and content deployment.
- Continuously identify opportunities to increase engagement and learning completion rates. This aligns with the company's broader digital learning initiatives and e-learning programs.
7. Local Content Development
- Assess local market needs and develop Japan-specific learning content.
- Create engaging training materials, workshops, videos, and digital learning modules.
- Translate and localize global training resources while maintaining brand consistency.
- Incorporate customer feedback, market insights, and sales trends into training programs.
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree or above.
- 5+ years of experience in Training, Learning & Development, Retail Excellence, Sales Training, or a related field.
- Experience within luxury, premium consumer goods, beauty, fashion, eyewear, or retail industries is highly preferred.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
- Experience developing both classroom and digital learning content.
- Knowledge of optical products and the eyewear industry is a strong advantage.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders across different functions and organizational levels.
- Native Japanese and business-level English.
