Summary
We are looking for our future Logistics Buyer to join the Indirect Procurement team, in an international, multicultural environment undergoing major transformation. Based in Wayne, New Jersey (New York area), United States, you will report to the Logistics Category Manager.
In this role, you will deploy the Logistics category strategy for the Americas region, running tenders and managing day-to-day supplier relationships, in close collaboration with the local Supply Chain and Operations teams and a network of logistics service providers.
Your scope covers logistics purchases for the Americas region: international and domestic transport (air, sea, road, express), warehousing, customs services and last-mile delivery. Your ambition will be to combine economic performance, service quality, and value creation for the Group.
Contribution to the category strategy
- Deploy the Logistics category strategy defined by the Category Manager at Americas level, and contribute to its definition by sharing local market insights.
- Monitor the Americas logistics market (rates, capacity, carriers, regulatory and customs developments) to identify optimization and innovation opportunities.
- Track spend, realized savings, and category KPIs for the region; ensure compliance with the Procurement policy and manage associated risks.
- Promote the Procurement Department's policy, processes, and value proposition among local stakeholders.
Stakeholder engagement
- Work closely with the local Supply Chain, Operations and Houses' teams to understand their needs and translate them into procurement solutions.
- Act as the procurement business partner on logistics topics for the region.
- Work in synergy with the Logistics Buyers in the other regions and with Procurement teams at Group and House level, to share best practices and leverage global synergies.
Procurement process management
- Run regional tenders and RFQs according to the Procurement process, integrating the CSR dimension (in particular transport emissions): supplier database maintenance, negotiations, and contract set-up in collaboration with the dedicated legal team.
- Analyze regional logistics spend (lanes, volumes, rates) to identify rationalization and optimization opportunities.
- Ensure the reliability of procurement data and produce the regional reporting needed to steer category performance.
Supplier relationship management
- Identify, evaluate, negotiate with, and onboard logistics service providers (carriers, freight forwarders, 3PLs, customs brokers).
- Manage day-to-day relationships with regional suppliers and handle escalations on service levels, claims, and invoicing disputes.
- Measure and steer supplier performance through KPIs (service levels, lead times, costs, CO2) and regular business reviews.
- Identify innovative logistics solutions and be a source of proposals for internal clients.
- Graduate of a business or engineering school, with a specialization in Procurement, Supply Chain or Logistics, you have 3 to 5 years of experience in procurement, ideally in logistics or transport, within an international environment. Fluency in English is required; Spanish or French is a plus.
Requirements
- 3-5 years’ experience in Logistics Procurement, indirect Procurement or related field
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance or related field
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- An analytical mindset, with a good understanding of logistics cost drivers (rates, surcharges, Incoterms, customs).
- The ability to translate business needs into procurement solutions and to promote adoption of the Procurement policy.
- Strong negotiation skills and clear, impactful communication.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and to work in a matrix organization across time zones.
- Sensitivity to CSR issues, initiative, and proactivity.
- Good command of office tools (advanced Excel) and ideally of an e-procurement or Business Intelligence tool.
- Spanish, Portuguese, or French language a plus
