Alexander McQueen

The House

Alexander McQueen is a British luxury brand founded in 1992 by Lee Alexander McQueen. Rooted in the designer's training on Savile Row, the House pushes the boundaries of British tailoring traditions, emphasizing cut, proportion and silhouette. Over the years, the House became renowned for its theatrical and innovative approach, with shows that were emotionally impactful and often provocative, creating a sense of spectacle. In 2011, "Savage Beauty", the brand’s retrospective at the Met in New York, was a major success, attracting over 650,000 visitors. Today, the House of Alexander McQueen continues its legacy of uncompromising creativity and precise tailoring. &nbsp;

History

In 2010, following Lee Alexander McQueen’s passing, Sarah Burton was named Creative Director, having worked alongside the designer for over 14 years. In 2024, Alexander McQueen embarked on a new creative chapter, marked by the arrival of Seán McGirr as Creative Director. His silhouettes evoke the House’s heritage through a modern streetwise lens, reinforcing its distinctive British identity defined by subversive strength and uncompromising self-expression.&nbsp;

Creative vision

The House is founded in London by Lee Alexander McQueen. 

1992  

Alexander McQueen shows the Bumster, provocative ultra low-rise trousers, as part of the Fall/Winter presentation entitled Taxi Driver, and again at the brand’s first runway show for Spring/Summer 1994, Nihilism. 

1993 

The Spring/Summer 1999 show, entitled No. 13, features a performance by model Shalom Harlow wearing a dress spray-painted by two robotic arms.  

1998 

2001 

Gianfilippo Testa is appointed Chief Executive Officer. 

2022 

Seán McGirr is appointed Creative Director, joining the House in December.

Oversees and guides the stores to ensure a unique customer experience. Manages the relationship between clients and sales team. For the customer, this is the visible face of the brand.

Sub-Job Family Description - Store Manager:
Oversees the business at 360 degrees. Ensures a unique customer experience and that business goals are achieved by effective sales strategies and CRM activities. Promotes staff engagement, motivation and development. Follows visual guidelines to ensure immaculate product display and store image. Ensures store operational procedures run smoothly and efficiently. Represents the brand and our company values at all times.
