Your Opportunity

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for all payroll tax related functions. This position will be responsible for monitoring the 3rd party processing of payroll tax payments and filings for multiple FEINs, covering multiple states and localities, handling all payroll tax questions and research.

How you will contribute

  • Monitor the timely federal, state and local tax payments on weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis by the Ceridian including the review of Ceridian reports
  • Reconciliation of Employee and Employer tax liability
  • Responsible for unemployment tax, which includes being the primary tax contact with the Company’s third-party unemployment consulting firm, maintaining unemployment tax rates in the Payroll system
  • Responsible for all communication with Ceridian on any tax issues; setup; payment issues, etc.
  • Coordinates internal and external payroll related audits
  • Maintain strong understanding of federal, state and local tax regulations
  • Reconcile data between payroll systems and bank debits, identify variances, and determine corrective action and preventative solutions
  • Review and follow up with Ceridian Tax Services for tax notices
  • Complete monthly surveys as required by States
  • Run payroll and tax reports after each payroll processing
  • Researching state registration and filing requirements
  • Implementing new states on tax service and updating system data

Who you are

  • 3+ years’ experience in Payroll Tax required
  • Degree in Accounting is preferred
  • Proficiency in Excel required
  • A candidate must have the ability to research and interpret payroll tax related topics
  • Experience with queries, internal/external payroll reporting, controls and audit procedures
